The business of counterfeit goods is one of the largest underground industries in the world and is growing rapidly. Its impact on the economy is humungous. Mysore Deep Perfumery House (MDPH) and its flagship brand, ‘Zed Black’ have been persistently conducting raids to stop the manufacturing and sale of counterfeit Zed Black products.

After they got a tip, teams from MDPH along with Bihar police conducted a raid on Anshu traders in Darbhanga, Nagar Thana area, as a part of a major operation against counterfeiting. The similarity of logo, artwork and design rang the alarm bells for the raid to be conducted. In the raid, fake agarbattis, labels & dyes have been seized in huge quantities. The manufacturer of these fake & duplicate agarbatti packs of worldwide renowned brand Zed Black, Vinod Kumar Gupta has been arrested along with seizing of the whole stock by the police and sealing of the shops and manufacturing facility.

Referring to such unethical practises, Mr Ankit Agarwal, Director MDPH stated, “After raids in parts of the country like Gujarat, Kolkata, Maharashtra, we have successfully raided in Patna as a part of our on-going war against agarbatti counterfeiting in India. Based on proper information,we took help of the local police and conducted raid on Anshu Trades located in Nagar Thana area, Darbhanga.” He further added, “All this is part of our drive to ensure only genuine products are made available to our loyal customers and they are not fooled by buying spurious goods which will harm.

We urge customers to check packs properly before buying them & avoid buying any similar or duplicate product.” In the Rs. 6000-crore organised and unorganised Indian incense sticks market, MDPH is a major player. The company has previously conducted raids in Siliguri, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal. It is these counterfeit goods which are harmful to the environment and give the original products and companies a bad name. These raids will ensure that people use only original Zed Black and MDPH products.
