Mysore Deep Perfumery House (MDPH) is enjoying a great run in Odisha with its popular agarbatti brands Zed Black 3-in-1 & Arij. The company had introduced its new flagship brand Zed black ARIJ to the Odisha market with Odia superstar Varsha Priyadarshini as its brand ambassador last year. On account of International Women’s Day, Zed Black along with Odia Superstar Varsha Priyadarshini felicitated 25 Super Achiever Women Laborers who have been working diligently at its manufacturing unit in Odisha. Varsha Priyadarshini, the face of Zedblack Arij in Odisha and a major supporter of the cause said “These women through their zest and willpower are fighting all odds and creating a better life for their families. I am extremely overwhelmed to be a part of the Arij campaign which glorifies Odisha through its campaign “Har Saans Main Odisha ” and hopes to create more such empowered women in the days to come”. The event took place on the sidelines of the noted ‘Nari Chira Sammanita’ festival hosted in Cuttack on account of International Women’s Day 2018.
One such woman “Jayanti Guru” who works at the factory shared “From the income we make, we help our husbands in repaying a part of the loan taken from a local moneylender and the rest in paying my kids’ fees and running the house. And, now I enjoy the process of rolling the agarbatti also after the training I received”.
With Varsha Priyadarshini on board as brand ambassador, MDPH plans to increase employment in Odisha by motivating more such women laborers to come forward. Agarbatti making through hand is beneficial to women members of rural households who get an average additional income for their family.
